HULL College has become the 18th partner in the Mail's 2010 Bounce Back campaign.

The College in Queens Gardens, city centre, is ideally placed to aid economic recovery with a range of courses for local residents to train for work.

The Bounce Back campaign brings together East Yorkshire businesses and organisations in a bid to help the region recover from recession.

It has been relaunched this year after the huge success of last year's campaign.

This year, more businesses and organisations have come on board to work together for the good of the region.

Dr Elaine McMahon, principal of Hull College, said: "Hull College is proud to support the Bounce Back campaign in highlighting the advice and support available for our region's businesses, helping them through the recession.

"The college has been working with a range of local businesses, including the public sector, small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and sole traders to provide tailored training programmes to develop workforce skills and address skills gaps.

"We are also working to ensure those employees who are vulnerable, including individuals who have been affected by redundancy, have access to a package of retraining options.

"Bounce Back will help to ensure people and businesses are aware of the support that is available to them and encourages partners working together to support the communities that we serve."

Last year, the college offered a range of free courses to people who had been out of work for six months or more.

Local residents were given the chance to retrain in a job sector in which jobs are available.

It has seen people get back into the workplace.

Bounce Back has a number of aims, including raising the profile of Hull and the East Riding and encouraging people to spend time and money locally.

Another is to provide people with advice on how to improve health and wealth and build confidence.
