Come and discover town's unique history
THE Treasure House in Beverley is throwing open its doors for a Heritage Open Day on Saturday, September 8.
The exhibition of unique historic archives, open from 9am to 4pm, will relate to this year's celebration of sport, play and games.
The archives will show the links the East Riding has had with the rest of the world throughout history.
Members of staff will be on hand, specially dressed in period costume, to answer any questions about the displays. There will also be children's activities available, including competitions, word searches and quizzes. Visitors will also have a rare chance to go behind the scenes on guided tours. There will be demonstrations on how books and papers are repaired in the conservation workshop and a brief film show.
