Minns critical of school fingerprint system
City council leader Carl Minns has criticised Hull Trinity House School for installing a biometric fingerprint system for pupils to get their school meals.
Councillor Minns says it goes against guidance issued to schools by the council.

He believes there is a significant security risk and does not want the data of children to be held in this manner.
The school, in Princes Dock Street, city centre, started using the system this week.
Cllr Minns told the Mail: "My principal objection is on the grounds of information security.
"At some point the school will have to store a child's data on a computer and if it is subject to hacking or proper security is not there, then once the data is out there, it is out there for life and you can't get it back.
"In terms of paying for school meals with this system, given the risks it entails, is it worth it for paying for a meal?"
No one at the school was available to comment.

“Mrs Cindy Russell
You have great courage to stand by your statement and put your full name.
This city needs more people like you and less people with fake names.
I cant wait to vote Cllr minns out of his Hull office.

“If the Hull Daily Mail has in fact reported accurately Minns comments, then I can only hope that our citizens get off their behinds and vote this idiot out of office. It's true that we get the represendatives we deserve, and its up to each and every one of us to use our demorcratic right and elect the council we deserve, You are at liberty to use my proper name and not some silly made up one. If you've not the courage to stand by your statements then you don't deserve to have them printed anywhere.

What are you on? showing an interest in education matters when did school lunch become part of education matters.
If someone can sit there grading people's spelling and grammar on comments on a internet forum then it's a shame you have no life.
Or are you a parent of a Bransholme bully who wants the children¿s lunch money for 4 cans of beer and would like this scheme to fail so your son can bully and take other children¿s money
BET YOU WAS A BULLY AT SCHOOL
And yes I was failed at school I am the 1st to admit it because the teachers was to busy sorting the bad kids out and taking them on silly day trips if they attended 2 days out of 5 days of school so it was a case of learn yourself in my school.
And as soon as I left school I have worked my bum off to get what I have now education is not for everyone but I bet I have more in the bank then you do.
don¿t judge everyone on there spelling and grammar especially on comment forums English is not everyone¿s strong point but I think my grades are ok,
My GCSE Grades
GCSE Maths B
GCSE Science Double A*
GCSE Geography B
GCSE English D
GCSE RE B
GCSE Music A
GCSE History D
I have seen a lot lower grades on people¿s resume when I get them handed to me to employ people”

“Charles, cott:
You obviously don't know anything about the Data Protection Act. Exactly which "privacy laws" do you think this breaches? Which element of the Data Protection Act do you think this infringes? How exactly could people sell children's fingerprints given that the scanner doesn't record whole finger prints?
Perhaps you should have read up on this before you commented.
Or are just muppet Minns in disguise?”

“I hate to say this but Minns is right for once. This device is a breach of the right to privacy law, the data protection crew should be down on this like a ton of bricks. Imagine having your child's fingerprints sold to say a less than honest person who could use this to put your child in places where they have never been.
Tosh you say; bosh I say .
It happens everyday. it's called identity theft and it will happen near you soon enough.”
