Council withholding £231k from History Centre builder
HULL: The city council is with- holding a final payment to contractors who built the £10 million History Centre.
A new report says a final payment of £231,000 is currently on ice because of a number of "outstanding issues" with the building in Worship Street, city centre.
The Mail revealed in May how temporary air conditioning had been installed in a bid to cool down the south-facing glazed public arcade.
Temperatures of 37C were recorded in the summer.

The building's distinctive curved roof is made of transparent plastic.
The new report, giving an update on council capital spending projects, says: "The History Centre remains in its retention period.
"A number of issues with the building remain outstanding. Officers are working with the contract managers and the contractors to resolve these.
"Only when officers are satisfied that all outstanding issues have been resolved will payment be made."
