AFTER three weeks with very little football the weather relented allowing the majority of teams to dig out their kit and resume action last Saturday.

League Senior Cup quarter-finals.

It was a comfortable win for the Rezzers and it could have been more if the final pass had been of better quality.

After a couple of near misses, Dixon put the reserves one up with  a well taken goal and Lampiere soon made it 2-0 when he stole in at the near post.

Grantham had an opportunity to bring the Juniors back into the game but his penalty came back off the post though keeper Martin had it covered.

The Rezzers continued to dominate possession and went 3-0 up when a free kick was worked into Dixon and he crashed his shot home.

The second half was a bit flat but the Rezzers added further goals through a Dixon penalty after Usher was fouled and the pick of the goals was Lampiere's second when he ran onto a through ball and chipped over the keeper.

Viking Raiders claimed their semi-final spot with a 2-0 win over VIP Communications.

Wawne Ferry 5 Goole Goods Office 0

A depleted side let down by no fewer than seven first team players saw Goole Goods Office crash to a heavy defeat by one of their closest rivals Wawne Ferry.

Chasing around two hours before kick-off for players is not what you would call a steady ship.

Players were asked to help out by playing in unfamiliar positions and even manager Munday had to play at the age of 42.

A big shake-up is needed in the Goole camp with strong words to players about commitment and future conduct.

The result has put a huge dent in the title hopes of the Goole side.

All the good work throughout the season could be undone by this type of performance.

The absent players were to blame and not those who donned shirts and gave of their best before being well and truly beaten by the Wawne outfit.

Division One

South Cave United travelled to Walkington for their return match against Lord Nelson Beverley.

Having suffered a loss to Lord Nelson Beverley in the first match of the season, South Cave United were looking for a win.

Kieran Barmby opened the scoring after 20 minutes meeting a cross from Tom Moss and heading it into the back of the net.

South Cave United went into half time with a 1-0 lead.

Only a minute into the second half Lord Nelson Beverley conceded a penalty after a foul on Jack Hanson.

The penalty, taken by Luke Duerden, was initially saved by the goalkeeper, however Luke subsequently scored from rebound to bring the score to 2-0 to South Cave United.

Five minutes before the end of the match Jack Hanson put in a cross, which converted into a shot on goal and took the score to 3-0.

This looked like being the final score, however a penalty was awarded to Lord Nelson Beverley in the last minutes of the match which was tucked away and the match finished 3-1.

Division Two

In a top-of-the-table clash leaders Park Athletic went down to only their second league defeat of the season.

In a tight game AFC Rovers scored the only goal of the game to maintain their challenge.

Division Three

Cliffe FC's first team finally had a league fixture after weeks of postponements and they travelled to face Market Weighton, a team they put 11 past in the reverse fixture earlier this season.

This game's scoreline would, however, not be as high as that...

Cliffe FC started brightly and found themselves in front of the Weighton goal more often than not, Dave Heron and Shane Cawkill causing problems down the wings.

A Cliffe goal followed a set-piece after a freekick into the box from the left saw a scramble in the box involving Ian Beckram and Andy Moughan led to the ball breaking outside the area for Andy Addison to fire the ball at goal.

Beckram redirected the ball into the net by flicking it off the heel of his boot, which of course he meant, for 1-0 to Cliffe FC.

Cliffe had a goal disallowed when Beckram floated the ball into the net, but Ben Rawson was adjudged offside.

A Luke Crowther free kick outside the box was bravely blocked by a player in the wall using his face to block the shot.

Cliffe came out for the second half and dominated, with keeper Ally Harris a virtual spectator.

Rawson had his chances saved by the Weighton keeper, to add to Rawson's frustration.

Cliffe continued to have shots on goal without scoring.

Cliffe centre-halves Moughan and Scott Birch had little to do and substitute left-back, Layton Hallam came close with a long-range effort.

Cliffe also created from Crowther long throws but still didn't manage another goal.

The introduction of Luke Worrillow saw Cliffe have the ball in the net but was also ruled offside.

Cliffe came away with the three points with a very comfortable 1-0 win but have managed to slip to third in the league a point behind and with a game in hand over the top two teams.

Division Four

A long spell of recent inactivity showed as Easington United Casuals found themselves 1-4 down at half-time to fellow Division Four strugglers Eastrington Village.

Andrew McNaught netted the Casuals' token effort but a dismissal of one of the Eastrington number on the stroke of half-time provided some hope for the visitors.

An improved second half showing yielded a John Clarke goal and a stunning strike from sub Pasha Brown helped claw Easington back but Eastrington hung on to claim a deserved victory.
