The troll who mocked Curtis Woodhouse on Twitter has publicly apologised after the Hull boxer turned up on his doorstep.

Keyboard warrior James O'Brien said he had been left "looking silly" by his humiliating climbdown after Woodhouse tracked him down to his home address.

Hailed a hero: Troll-hunter Curtis Woodhouse

As reported here on Monday, O'Brien, who tweeted as 'The Master', attacked the former Hull City player, of Driffield, over his English light-welterweight title defeat.

He tweeted: "Haha, you lost you silly mug, fight a 10-year-old next time if you want to actually win."

But Woodhouse offered £1,000 to anyone who could provide him with O'Brien's home address.

He threatened to drive 60 miles to The Master's house in South Yorkshire and later posted a photograph of his street sign.

O'Brien told today's Daily Mirror he was shocked when he realised Woodhouse was coming to confront him.

He said: "I won't be doing it again. I would like to apologise for my actions.

"I’d tell other people to think twice about doing this kind of thing because you never know what the consequences will be."

Former heavyweight champ Lennox Lewis and Hull politician Lord Prescott were among celebrity tweeters who backed Woodhouse's stance.

Woodhouse later tweeted: "He never came out to play so I'm going back home. It was maybe a bit daft what I did today but sometimes enough is enough."

“@Blakey_: "Had he done that in Mexico he would have had his head decapitated."

So you're saying that "keyboard warriorJames O'Brien" has got two heads? Typical poor HDM reporting that they didn't mention that fact in the article... Two heads, now that's newsworthy”

“@Ramona: Well that is his fault for attempting to cyber-bully a professional boxer. Talk about a stupid thing to do. Sometimes all you have to do with a bully is to bully them back and then you discover their true nature. He pushed Woodhouse to the point where his anger over-ruled his common-sense ..... that can happen to us all. We all have a breaking-point. Woodhouse has already ready admitted that he responded in the wrong way but most people can understand why he over-reacted. What you are doing is supporting a serial cyber-bully just because he stupidly tried bullying a boxer when he thought he was safe behind his keyboard. I always love see'ing a bully get his comeuppance. Just because he is boxer doesnt mean people are allowed to bully him from a safe distance.”

"Anyway, this James has apologised so all is good. He admitted he went over the top in attacking Woodhouse online."

It isn't "All Good". Mr O'Brien only apologised because he was threatened with violence by a professional boxer.”

“Sad people with no lives of their own live through other people, be they 'Glory Boy' Man. Utd. fans who live in Plymouth and have never actually been to a match, or cowards like James O'Brien. Ten-out-of-ten to Curtis Woodhouse.”

“Woodhouse is only human, after receiving continuous abuse time and time again, anyone could snap and do something silly. Woodhouse has admitted he let it get to him and his anger got the better of him. You do get a lot of faceless keyboard-warriors/trolls on the internet. Not everyone can be so passionless that they can rise above it every time. Everyone has a point were anger will rule their heads. Still, it is good to see the actions of an abusive keyboard-warrior coming back to haunt him. Love it. You should never post anything you wouldnt say to someones face.”

“Anyone who gets to the level Curtis Woodhouse has gotten in the pro game; is a good boxer/fighter. Anybody who says he isnt, is just clueless regarding the sport.”
