Cyber watchdogs keeping checks on workers' web use within North Lincolnshire Council

Cyber watchdogs at North Lincolnshire Council continue to monitor the way employees use their computers.

Last year, three workers were suspended and a fourth employee received a disciplinary warning for inappropriate use of the internet and e-mails during working hours.

In 2010-11, one employee was also suspended and another was disciplined for similar offences.

The authority has not disclosed what exactly the misuse offences entailed.

But a council spokesman said: "The authority has clear policies in place to ensure staff, councillors and anyone else who might access our internet and e-mail services know their responsibilities.

"The policy is there to protect both the council and its employees and details what is and is not acceptable use of the system."
