PETER Gentle is to spend time with half-back Daniel Holdsworth over the festive break to formulate Hull's attacking plans for 2013.

Holdsworth is set to arrive in the country in the next couple of days.

    Playmaker: Hull's Daniel Holdsworth.

And while his first day of training will not be until the squad reconvene on January 2, the playmaker will spend a couple of days with Gentle in preparation.

Holdsworth was allowed to stay in Australia until after Christmas, having recently been married back home.

But with the new signing set to arrive, Gentle wants to waste no time in taking the ex-Salford man through how he wants his side to play.

"I'll be meeting with Daniel at my house for a few days over Christmas before we go to Tenerife. It is important we get together to plan a few things," Gentle told the Mail.

"We'll be sitting down to discuss a few things and look at videos to bring him up to speed with our plans. It will be good to get him out there with us on the field."

While Hull have officially brought an end to pre-season training for the Christmas period, Gentle says there is no let-up for his players.

Splitting his squad into groups, depending on where they live, players have been allocated training days to head to the gym and work together.

"It is important we don't lose what we have built up in the last couple of months and while the boys are off for Christmas they will still be training," added Gentle.

"We've given them 10 days off, but they will train in groups four times over those days as well as having their own training plans."

“bobbn robin, now you wont know what you get will you,its all changed since rovers were ina major final, but after your trips through the allotment,i already gathered the fact that your not too inelligent, the sponsorship, you may not have noticed the fact that it is also incorperated with hyundai the larger name on the hull shirt, yes its a good payday win or lose in a major final,i hopr that oneday you too can have the enjoyment of your club once again contesting a major final again and bringing some much needed capital into your club, after all you cant go on cntinually seeking handouts from the council and the allams, afterall you have gone from being a debt free club into a debt ridden club, but that is known has success because for most that is all they have known, since joining the bandwaggon lol,get you money on rovers to reach a major final ths season and then you can donate it to your beloved robins, who will gladly accept it afterall they accept anything thats free to cravenpark lol”

“bobbin robin, your comment about success,if a 4th place, and winning a playoff game is recognised as success up there in east hull, over a 6 year period, even your promotion to superleague was achieved with a team of professionals, playing in a league of amateurs,so i dont see any problem with being runners up in the games major finals lol,it brings in £500,000 grand a time, which does help lol.”

“I hear that Larvin is already having an influence on the Dobbins, instead of travelling to away matches by coach, next season they will travel by Securicor Van because Larvin feels much more at home in a Securicor Van and he now insists that they train with a ball and chain, which he provides, attached to their ankle as he has pick up a few of them over the years. The Dobbin's next shirts will feature a motif of little arrows but if they decide to go to Spain for their pre-season training, Larvin will not be able to go with them otherwise it will be a few years before he returns. Finally their new nickname will be "The Shackle Draggers"

“heard he was on a trial on at Leeds and although he was English he was brought up in Aus and never made an appearance in the NRL a big powerful centre by all accounts, he scored in the boxng day friendly, so bit of an unknown, not heard of any links with Hull previously. A 1 year deal is a gamble worth taking for leeds, wont be on big money and could be a good option
I have never liked forwards kicking goals even when Sammy Lloyd and Crooks did it I always thought let them get a bit of a break and now when they spell forwards I like it even less, take the responsibility off tickle and let somebody else do it in my opinion.”

“Will be interesting to see who gets goal kicking responsibility. With increased options in the back row Tickle may be given less game time to ease him back from serious injury handing responsibility to Holdsworth?

I hope gentle says to him remember to commit players before passing. If he does that will be a vast improvement on last season apart from when McGoldrick played in the halves.

On a different note just been reading about a trialist Leeds are possibly signing. Says he had a deal with FC last season but it fell through. His name is Joe Vickery but I can't remember anything about it. He's Australian but born in England. Anyone else remember anything?”
