"I am going to concentrate my efforts on being the deputy police and crime commissioner."

Mr Robinson had come under increasing pressure to resign since he was appointed to the £45,000-a-year role last month.

“It's all pathetic and if Grove/Robbo think they are now without blemish they must be stupid. What a start to the new policing regime. Will Grove now turn his dog in a manger/ sour grapes attitude to police pensions? Watch out bobbies!!”

“Agree about cronyism..... if there was to be a deputy that position should have been voted on by the people.”

“There is still the issue of cronyism.

Grove chose as his deputy his friend, fellow Tory councillor and campaign manager ( a post that only Grove/Robinson and no doubt Hunt knew about), Oh, and he was a member of the gang of 12 that tried and failed to depose Parnaby. These qualities made him the best person for the job.

One wonders what criteria Grove will use to select the new chief constable.”

“His position had become untenable when virtually the whole of the Tory party in his own E Yorks voted against him and all his constituents interviewed on TV said he shouldn't do both jobs. It would have haunted both he and Grove for their whole tenure as PCC and Deputy. They will hope that things will quieten down now for a while. He obviously also hopes we all forget about the telephone incident and the unanswered questions that remain. When was he made aware of the fact that he had been reported to the police and when did Grove know. If they knew before the confirmation hearing for Robinson then, according to Colin Inglis, Robinson lied by saying there was nothing in his past that would cause embarrassment to the Office of the PCC and Grove misled the panel by not mentioning it. That is potentially more serious than using the telephone and of course there can be no argument it has caused huge embarrassment. How many penalty points does he have is mother unanswered question. The questions the police have not adequately addressed about how the matter was dealt with are also of great concern. One issue down but the big one, for non-Tory East Riding councillors and residents of Howdenshire, remains unanswered.”

“This needs to set a precident.

Darryl Stephenson DEO of Hull City Council can't possibly do a £292,000 a year job whilst being clerk of the Humber Bridge Board and running his own consultancy business - Resignation needed.

Parnaby can't be leader of the ERYC whilst running his dogs home and caravan storage business.

Resign please on prinicple - oh sorry I forgot they haven't got any.

One law for one another for the fat cats.”

“It was only last Tuesday that this poor tortured soul said he was keen to continue to take case work for his constituents but I guess that is not so attractive when you no longer receive £10,700 a year. Let's hope the turnout at the by-election is better than the 4% that elected Grove. That reminds me when is the 'organ grinder' in this duo going to do the decent thing and resign his seat?”

“Cant blame him in his reflective choice really when you consider his boss is also a very dear old friend of his. Sounds very cosy, plus the 45 grand of public funds in your pocket. Very nice thank you.”
