YORKSHIRE Ambulance Service NHS Trust said any plans to make changes would be subject to consultation with staff and stakeholder organisations.

It said the "hub and spoke" model has already been adopted by some other ambulance services across the country and the move would help to deliver "effective cost reductions".

Its estates strategy said the key benefits of a "hub and spoke" model include improving infection control rates and improved management of staff and issues through "on-site management presence".

The report said: "The concept of a hub and spoke model for emergency response is something that the trust has a desire to implement and intends to apply as a preferred strategic option to help deliver a cost effective reduction of the estate and to improve service efficiency."
