A DRAGONS' Den TV crew will mingle with the crowd at the Freedom Festival whilst filming fashion footwear entrepreneurs from Hull.

The national TV show aired on BBC Two will follow WedgeWelly in Freedom Gardens on Saturday.

The company which creates practical yet fashionable wellies, which include a patented wedge heel, successfully pitched on the show earlier this year and won the investment of retail magnate Theo Paphitis.

The aim of the company on the day is to get Strictly Come Dancing stars to wear their creations on stage.

The owners will present their boots to Lilia Kopylova, who is performing at Freedom with partner Darren Bennett.

Together, they are Strictly's most successful couple and nine times British Champions.

Sarah Longthorn, co-owner of WedgeWelly, said: "The team are keen to promote our fantastic home city as much as possible, so we are thrilled that we can work with Freedom to film our Dragons' Den follow-up show."

Janet Reuben, chief executive of Visit Hull And East Yorkshire, said: "I am delighted to welcome Dragons' Den to Freedom.

"Freedom is going to be such a fantastic event, so I am sure the Dragons' Den team will thoroughly enjoy their visit here."

Councillor John Robinson, portfolio holder for image and culture, said he is pleased the crew chose to film in Hull.

He said: "This is fantastic news that Dragons' Den will be filming some of our home grown entrepreneurs at Freedom.

"WedgeWellies have become festival favourites and we hope the team have a fantastic time at Freedom and that the artists will be grateful for their gifts."

The festival is also acting as a platform to help develop the city's talented music performers by introducing them to new audiences.

Three local acts, including Jody McKenna And The Zagros Band, Ysabelle Wombwell And The Reigning Geese and Hekima And The Bongo Flavour will share the same stage as the Foals when launching their debut albums through Warren Records.

The albums will be released on the Freedom Stage in Freedom Gardens, from 4pm to 6pm on Saturday.
