Drug addict attacked woman who caught him stealing
BRANSHOLME: A drug addict attacked a woman who caught him ransacking her sister's home.
Joshua Green, 21, had been living with his grandparents in Sedgebrook Grove, but was asked to move out.
He returned to collect some shoes, but had seized an opportunity to steal, Hull Crown Court heard yesterday.
James Byatt, prosecuting, said the sister of Green's grandmother had called round to take her dog for a walk.

He said: "She found the defendant in her sister's bedroom, hiding under the bed."
Mr Byatt said Green pushed the woman to one side and fled the house carrying a mobile phone, which was later found outside the property.
Mr Byatt said: "He manhandled her but the Crown accepts there was minimal force used. There was no injury inflicted."
Green was arrested the next day.
"He said he was stupid and was looking for items to steal in order to fund his drug habit," said Mr Byatt.
Green, who gave no address to the court, admitted a charge of burglary.
Steven Garth, mitigating, said: "Mr Green has had a wretched childhood and a miserable youth. He has moved from one hostel to another."
Jailing Green for nine months, Judge Michael Mettyear told him: "You steal from those closest to you. You are in a sorry way."

“Dont worry about what the press print Kimerleigh, they will print any rubbish for a story, the trouble is a large majority of people want to read garbage and fluff. And as for the solicitor's, well they will tell people to say any lie they can to make their defendent sound completely innocent, its their job. A bit like parasites arn't they? Thanks for putting us straight on the facts. Thats FACTS daily mail, something you journalists would know nothing about.”

“I am the older sister of Joshua Green and i find this article disgusting, i grew up in the same home as Joshua, same parents, same everything yet i have always worked, i am responsible and am independant, i certainly never had a bad childhood. The quote posted by the mail "Steven Garth, mitigating, said: "Mr Green has had a wretched childhood and a miserable youth. He has moved from one hostel to another." Is factually incorrect. and reporting this is ridiculous. He had a good childhood and the problems he did have were brought on directly by himself and as a result of his own actions. His family has always stood by him, through years of verbal abuse, threats, damages, theft and much more. Joshua was released from prison and didnt want to go into a hostel, i agreed he could stay with me until he was on his feet. He began stealing from me and disrespecting my home.
We love him regardless of all his wrongdoings, we've stood by him and then to see this comment in the mail saying he had a wretched childhood was sickening and deeply upsetting for myself and my family. I hope you reconsider posting such things without all the details in the future!
Kimberleigh Green.”
