ERYC say Council Tax frozen but many will still have higher bills.
ERYC has announced that the Council Tax for the coming year is to be frozen. welcome news you might say but if you are in receipt of Council Tax Benefit it's an altogether different and more worrying story. ERYC are writing to all who receive Council Tax Benefit warning them of important changes to the benefit system. From April 1st the maximum amount of benefit will be limited to 75% of the Council Tax bill. This means that even those on Income Support or Job Seekers Allowance will have find at least 25% of the bill from their allowances. This may be several hundred pounds.
If all this has caused distress ERYC have a 'benefit and money advice service' on 0800 9150381.
The situation in Hull is only slightly better with alevy of 8.5% bu that still means poor people paying higher taxes.

“Sorry, but you cant complain or blame the council for the Beverley Market fiasco, blame the dinosaur protesters, who have nothing better to do than whine about change. As for cuts in benefits its disagreeable and has been handled wrong, but some of those on benefits are serial scroungers who never intend to go to work or even bother looking for a job, why should the hard working taxpayer subsidise their standard of living, being given for free - not earning more in benefits that someone on minimum wage. The benefit system is broken blame 13 years of Labour, trying to buy votes from the vulnerable, by offering them a world of leisure at the expense of the worker.
Labour - Definition: The aggregate of all human physical and mental effort used in creation of goods and services. Labour is a primary factor of production. The size of a nation's labour force is determined by the size of its adult population, and the extent to which the adults are either working or are prepared to offer their labour for wages.
So where does a life of sponging off the state fit into this definition?”

“I agree, £2.5 million wasted on a market make-over vanity project that could have been spent. Shame on the shameless Parnaby!”

“Amount of Money stolen from the poor £2.5 million
Amount of Money to pay for Parnaby's Beverlaay market place decobbling/recobbling £2.5 million
Therefore Beverlaays Saturday market is built with blood money
The East Riding Council ARE increasing the POLL tax for the sickest, poorest and most vulnerable by a huge 25% another lie and theft from the most needy.
No mention of the £160,000 extra wastefull extra spending to change the contract for Galliford Try to do less work in Beverlaaays Saturday market place - due to the fact he wouldn't listen until the national tabloids forced his hand!
Therefore...
They lied, they stole, they are Conservtives...

“It is disgusting but it comes from the Tory and Lib Dem MPs that voted for this. The Councils have very little financial leeway with it.”
