East Yorkshire civil servants out on strike
Civil service workers have gone on strike today across East Yorkshire.
The nationwide stoppage involved courts, Job centres Plus offices and Customs and Excise offices.

Col Brown and Paul Bayes
Col Brown, Humber branch secretary of the Ministry of Justice division of the Public and Commercial Services Union, joined striking staff outside of Hull Combined Courts.
He said: “This strike has been called because the Government is refusing to talk to us about yet more changes to terms of conditions on top of a continuing pay freeze and increased pension contributions.”

“Well they sure aint gonna like this latest budget are they with its further pay freeze?
Is it just coincidence that they struck today or did the officials know something others didn't?”

“This radical right wing government of ideologue millionaires have, one by one, demonised the disabled, the unemployed, ethnic minorities and other vulnerable groups with the sole purpose of lining the pockets of their associates - society's richest 1%.
They appear to have succeeded in doing the same to public sector workers by creating the fable that they are well paid with gold plated pensions and so on. This is nonsense. The increase in pension subscriptions is not to fund pensions it is an exclusive tax levied only on civil servants.
There is no such thing as public sector and private sector workers; this a an artificial distinction created by this government for the purpose of creating jealousy and in fighting to distract attention from their Dickensian ideology.
Where this government leads in industrial relations other employers will quickly follow.”

“These dinosaurs obviously still believe that that council taxpayers should continue to fund their gold plated pensions, crazy or what?
I currently pay 8% of my salary to fund my own private pension, what percentage of their salary do these loonies currently pay?”
