FORMER Hull KR captain Wayne Parker has given his approval to a proposed Supporters' Trust.

Parker and fellow former Robin Paul Fletcher were invited to the latest working group meeting this week and were impressed by what they heard.

The working group, from left, Adrian Brown, Peter Walker, Andy Wilson, Phil Barrett, Adam Everitt and Phil Bagwell

Rovers' supporters will have their chance to vote on whether to go ahead with the Trust at an open meeting in the Harry Poole bar at MS3 Craven Park on December 9.

Parker sees no reason why a Trust can't be a success, especially as it gives fans a voice on issues that matter to their club.

"I think it is a great idea," Parker told the Mail.

"Any time fans are given a say in the running of their club is a great thing.

"For many supporters they have no contact with anyone at the club so they rely on information in the media.

"Through a Trust they will be able to have their say and will be listened to by the board. The fact that chairman Neil Hudgell and vice chairman Rob Crossland are backing it shows it was in the best interest of the club to get into Super League.

"Before Rovers got into Super League, the club wasn't in a great position but we had a good run to get promotion.

"But that buzz with the fans has died off a little and this should help revive it.

"Certainly from the ex-players points of view, the Trust is something we are right behind."

There is a lot of work to do before a trust can be set up.

All indications suggest the fans are in favour with hundreds pledging their support already.

A working group, chaired by Peter Walker, has been set up to promote the benefits of a Trust.

Walker has been impressed with the level of support shown so far and intends to make sure the fans know everything they need to about the benefits.

"The level of support has been great so far," Walker told the Mail.

"Fans have been pledging their support to the Trust by emailing me.

"It's great to have the support of Wayne and Paul and the Ex-Players Association.

"What better way can you endorse the Trust than by getting the former players involved?

"If the Trust is given the go-ahead, a constitution will be drafted which will highlight where any money raised through the sale of shares and events will go. As a Trust, we want the youth development to benefit most.

"This is a long-term project and the more shares we sell the closer we will get to having a place on the board.

"We are not planning a take over of the club, we just want to give supporters part ownership of their club and have our voice heard by the board of directors."

“heard hudge on Blunderside the other week about this - he said he didnt want a trust that lock hornes with the Board! So is it they will listen only if its what they want tho hear.

Is development of young players already a prioity of the club? So why do we ned a trust

Will the terms of referance of the trust to oppose any merger with H**l FC -huduge is close to the Allams and remember Phil Lowes history in this

Why set up a trust when a takever could be iminent?

Stakeholder summed it up - hold shareolders meetings - get views from pople who put mone into the club - we need people to put money into the club - not sit on committees

How do you propose to obtain shares and hve equity in the club?

Have any of the working group got any experience of sitting on a board of directors and managing a professional sports club?

Finally, regarding supporters voting in the trust who defines what a supporter is? Is it passholders - are ballot papers to be issued on entry to the ground on match days?
A show of hands in the pub?”

    “hi Rover working

I agree all supporters should be listen to by the board.

My point is the board were quick to take our money and equally quick to stop shareholdrs meetings - isnt that what the club needs - people to put money into the club! Whilst shareholders meetings are not a legal requiement for private limitted company's - surley the club have a moral duty to the fans to hold them - if nothing else to get the views of those fans who have put money into the club

The last information recieved from the club gave the directors shareholding as N Hudgell 100,000 shares (worth£50,000) P Lowe 0 shares (nil shares)

So have the board been allocating shares amongst themselves? (which tey are entitled to if they cannot make contact with shareholders) - hence why I suggest we may have been ripped off

I have submitted this question several ties to MrHudgelland Mr Smth and never recieved a reply!

all the board need to do is call a meeting”

if you want to win ppl over I suggest you cut out the innane remarks. I will have you know I attended 20 games last season and 11 reserve grade games so you can shove your remark where the sun doesn't shine.

If you are an example of who is involved in the Trust then I am seriously questioning supporting it.”

    “Slammer, you posted:

"Ideally, I would like to see the Trust acting as the voice of the supporters, a fund raising organisation that takes over the roles of the existing supporters groups, give a member of each of the existing supporters groups a place on the Board, and for it to set an agenda that goes beyond youth development, such as establishing a supporters club (bar/food outlet) that is more accessible 7 days a week ie town centre or Holderness Rd/Witham."

Couldn't agree more, I BEL13VE there is a premise next door to Rovers new store in the town centre. It would make an ideal Rovers Supporters Club. All it needs is some scattered rubbish removing, fumigating, then a makeover.

    lol”

    “Hi everyone,

I'd like to answer a few of the questions posed today.

    Firstly to Slammer.

Paul, the primary aim of the Trust is for all supporters of our great club to have a voice in the running of the club so that their concerns are heard. The ultimate aim is to have enough shares and equity in the club.

The club would prefer that all groups come under one umbrella and in theory there is nothing to stop everyone working semi autonomously whilst amalgamating. This is hypothetical however as the Trusthas yet to be voted in.

Youth development is paramount for the club. This is an area that the Working Group feels very strongly about and supports our board fully in developing future talent. This should not be understated. As we have seen this season, and I am sure you would have seen had you attended any games, the club brought through a good number of juniors, with some moving on to pastures new so the work continues.

First and foremost, the supporters must vote the Trust in, and then we can start to look at different projects.

    Secondly, to Steakholder.

The board have always wanted to hear from the supporters. We are the lifeblood of the sport and it is worth remembering that the board are also Hull KR supporters, just like us. The Trust is fully independent of the club and the board of directors at Rovers will have no say in who is elected to the Trust committee, the supporters outside of the boardroom will.

You will not find one 'yes man' in our group. I need not elaborate on that point.

Shareholding meetings are no longer a requirement but if you would like to know the reason why the club do not hold them I can only suggest you speak with them directly. I also think it is worth remember that 'small scale' shareholders would also include fine gentlemen like Colin Hutton and Phil Lowe, and you can contact Company House for the documents should you so wish.

Finally, I'd like to thanks Charlie Mullen and the Hull Daily Mail for printing this article and helping to generate much needed interest to the proposed Rovers Supporters Trust. The meeting, as stated in the article, in on 9th December and we all hope as many Rovers supporters can make it, listen to our proposals and decide for themselves if they'd like to support it.

Please continue to pledge your support by e-mailing us at: hullkr.trust@gmail.com.

    Kind regards,

    Adam Everitt
    Working Group Secretary

“Its interesing to see that the board now want to hear the supportes voice via a trust. A group that has been appointed by the current board and empower them by giving them some shares? Yes men I think

Before joining super league lots of the loyal supporters put our hands in our pockets and bought shares that where issued at various times. The proceeds from these shares were used to get the club out of administration and pay for the new playing surface.

Surley it is these people who the club should be listening to. But since joining super league Mr Hudgell and Co have not held a shareholders meeting. Have all of us small scale shareholders bee ripped off?”
