“Have 'the authorities' managed to shift the pole yet? Come on HDM, I think we should be told!”

“Don't be rediculous 'dontwo', the Police will have to attend the scene to take photographs and undertake a thorough investigation, breathalise the fallen post, call an amubulance to the scene incase anyone is in shock, order numerous essential breakfasts and coffees to take away and take details of any possible witnesses before even THINKING about organising a recovery firm to travel from the Outer Hebredes to recover the fallen telegraph pole.
20 hours? This will be a five day job.”

“They do not know how long the closure will be for?. Errr, in the past it would have been until 6 workmen had moved the pole to the side of the road and swept up any debris. About 20 minutes altogether. Nowadays though, with our having to turn a molehill into a mountain culture, I reckon we are talking 20 hours?.”
