I AM saddened about the recent allegations made against Sir Jimmy Savile, pictured.
In 1966, when I was 15 years of age, I was staying with my cousin Julie in her home town of Thirsk.
We went to the Milk Bar cafe in the Market Place one Saturday morning and there was Sir Jimmy having his usual beverage.
Julie told me he always stopped there en route from London to Scarborough to see the "Duchess" as he called his beloved mother.

Julie cheekily asked him if he would give us a lift home in his E-Type Jaguar and he duly obliged.
He was a perfect gentleman and when he asked as we got closer to Julie's if we were in a cul-de-sac, Julie replied "no, it's a council estate".
He was still laughing as he drove away.

READING court files in the Hull Daily Mail, I saw a young lad getting a hefty fine for dropping litter.
Others do crimes against humanity, assault, house burgling and shop thefts and they get a slap on the hand and a few hours' unpaid work.
Why can't it be like when someone is caught with illegal substances in their possession? Give them a warning then if they do it again, take them to court.

GLAD to hear the news that the council is moving to fortnightly bin collections, just waiting for my letter from them now informing me how much my council tax is being reduced by.
