The event, one of the town's most popular attractions, takes place this evening, Monday, November 5.

The Bonfire will be lit by the Mayor of Beverley, Cllr Margaret Pinder and the President of Beverley Lions, Geoff Rawson at 7.15pm, followed by the professional fireworks display at 7.45pm.

Road closures will be in place from 6pm and visitors are being encouraged to use the town centre car parks, which are free after 6pm, and walk to the Westwood.

As an added safety measure, the Lions will be giving out glow wrist bands to the young people, enabling young children to be seen more easily, should they get lost.

Lions members will be handing them out throughout the evening for free.

As well as the Bonfire and fireworks, there will also be fairground rides, toffee apples, candy floss, burgers, hot dogs and much much more.

Guests are being advised to dress up warmly and to wear sensible footwear.

The Lions are also appealing for people to donate to their bucket collections, after this year's display is believed to have cost in the region of £5000.
