Firms have lifesaving equipment
EAST YORKS: The region's businesses are bucking the national trend – with more companies in the area having a defibrillator on site.
More than half of British businesses do not have a defibrillator – a that machine which can help increase the chances of survival if someone goes into cardiac arrest.
A survey by The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) found 52 per cent of businesses in the Yorkshire and Humber region have one – an increase of 38.8 per cent on the national average.
IOSH research and information services manager Jane White said: "We want businesses to take a good look at the number of employees they have, their demographics and the kind of sector they work in, to assess whether they should get a defibrillator."
