“2,000 members and yet only 9 staff....wow.
Shows how Corporate groups like this work, pack em in on contracts then.....
Good to see the new budget place is doing well though 100 yards away, hope staff at FF would be needed there soon to cope with the new found enthusiasm for fitness at a reasonable price for the people of Hul.”

“You dont need a gym to get fit, just the know how and use your local park. Cold ? Im slowly growing with a not for profit outdoor fitness club (http://tinyurl.com/cvqkk4c ) as people are enjoying being trained with others (and I can back it up with excellent results. )
I was trained all my teens and adult life by coaches who do it for passion not money and want to create a non sport, but pure 'fun' fitness club in each park.
Hoping to get the NHS to pick this up and seeking funding to put a trainer in each of our parks where people can be trained, pay a couple of quid subs much like an amateur football or rugby team plus do lots of outdoor activities.
I used to work for a London based commercial firm doing it but they charge £34 a month and you have to commit to a minimum term so its out the reach of some people. plus having comments such as 'the best customers are those that pay but dont turn up' and all the penny pinching, 'its all about profits' made me not go back after working for 2.5 years then serving abroad.
The trainers from Fitness first can do this at a park local to them, it wont be a full time income but is very rewarding to coach people in groups.”

“Not quite on the same scale but anther place that must be on borrowed time is the organic farm shop at Hornsea Freeport.
When they try to charge you £14.80 for a cheese salad sandwaich and a ham salad sandwich and one take out coffee............go on blame the internet for that!”

“As a member for about 9 years i will be really sad to see FF close. I appreciate that is was in need of some investment and updating but it has always had a nice friendly atmosphere and some really good staff and freeelance instructors. Hope all the staff manage to get work and looking forward to the leaving do”

“This will be because of that new gym that has just opened & the low prices they charge, it won't be the last gym to close”

“maybe they do tony but like i said i hope i'm wrong, never seen staff try so hard to sell there before and its just as easy for people to go bye things either on the internet or if on kingswood half the price books at asda”

“I remember being a member there 2000-2003 when my old mate Derek 'worked' there - it was alright but always had the air of an organisation punching above their weight & lacking in investment”
