A fourth school has announced it will remain closed today due to the snow.

Wintry showers are expected throughout today after a blizzard caused traffic chaos across East Yorkshire on Monday evening.

Kilham Primary is the latest school to announce it's closure today, following Clifton Primary in west Hull, Driffield Junior School and Kings Mill School, Driffield. Bridlington School opened at 10am to allow staff extra time to get in

Major roads were brought to a standstill during rush hour as the region was hit by snow and ice yesterday.

A car overturned on the B1230, east of High Hunsley, and other accidents created huge jams.

The Met Office said the bad weather was set to continue today.

A spokesman said: "The weather will be largely cloudy at first with snow showers, some heavy.

"The snow showers will become light and isolated through the day, as sunny intervals develop."

“Koala1960 - maybe it's time teachers (& everyone else) stood up to these "no win, no fee" vultures & challenged them in court rather than just paying money out left, right & centre without a fight.
Maybe if the boot was on the other foot & they had to pay courts costs for losing they might not be so quick to take on these cases.”

“Will people ever realise that it's not the Teachers who decide this. It's all down to the no win/no fee/blame/claim culture which schools have to kow-tow to.”

“I went to the cardiac exercise unit today and a lady in her late 70s had walked over half a mile through the snow to get there and also did her shopping and lugged it with her. What a shower modern teachers are. We walked over a mile to get to school as kids in more heavier and colder conditions ,often in poorly fitting shoes with plastic bags over our socks with short trousers. Man up! ,no wonder kids are so soft today.”

“I can never understand this. Makes me wonder if the kids in Alaska or Switzerland ever get an education.”
