Lisa Johnson, 45, of east Hull, said: "She is a class act. I was really excited when I heard she was coming and it is good to see so many people here."
The festival continues tomorrow with an afternoon with Beverley Folk Festival in the Teatro Spiegeltent, which was specially constructed for the Festival, and a Bandstand marathon in Queen's Gardens among the live music to be enjoyed.
Mark Morriss of the Bluetones will bring the festival to a close at 6pm at Fruit, while the E20 finale will move to Pave on Princes Avenue at 8pm.

“I would like to coment on the brilliant performance of Martha Reeves and the Vandellas but couldn't get past the Gestapo on the entrances with my dog. Who on earth decided to ban dogs from the entire festival but failed to mention the ban in any of the literature? The so-called Freedom Festival resembled a concentration camp with the guards at the entrances. Hull City Council should take a trip to Hastings to see how festivals should be organised. Hastings Borough Council run festivals from May through to November and everyone is welcome and there isn't an obsession with health and safety.”

“I cannot believe I got to see a true Motown legend, what a star. And 10 out of 10 to all those 'older' Hull Soul Boys who still know how to 'get down'!”
