Friends group says thanks for support

THE Friends of East Park raised £1,211.74 over the festive period and would like to thank residents in the area for their support.

Volunteers who raise funds for the park in Holderness Road are already planning trips and events for this year.

Janine Houghton, of the group, said they are also appeal- ing for unwanted Christmas presents to be donated to charities, which can be dropped off at the office in the park's pavilion.

The money was raised through a tombola, a Christmas grotto, a raffle, a collection box and more.

Friends of East Park includes about 150 members from the community.

Annual member- ship costs £2.

Volunteers receive a quarterly newsletter informing them of future events and updates about the park.

People can apply for membership by visiting the East Park central pavilion.

The committee meets once a month to discuss ongoing projects and any future needs and finance for these.
