FAMOUS FANS: Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Home Secretary Alan Johnson are presented with football shirts by members of the Hull-based charity Kick 4 Life outside 10 Downing Street.
A team from the charity are set to head for South Africa this summer to take part in the Football For Hope Festival.
The festival includes 32 teams from across the globe made up from organisations involved in promoting peace, anti-racism and education through playing football.
Mr Brown said: "I know the damage drugs can do to destroy families and blight communities and that is why I am pleased to support the growing team of Dads Against Drugs.
"It is great to see sport being used as a force for good and, as both a dad and a football fan, it is particularly good to see football being front and centre in a campaign to promote awareness of the dangers drugs pose.
"I would like to wish the Dads team the best of luck for the forthcoming FIFA Football For Hope Festival."
Dads was set up in 2000 after researchers employed by Kirklands Area Neighbourhood Watch in Spring Bank were offered drugs.
During the team's visit to Downing Street, they also met Hull West and Hessle MP Alan Johnson.
Both Home Secretary Mr Johnson and Mr Brown were presented with football shirts bearing their names.
Henry Frankish, a player in the Dads team, said: "This was an amazing opportunity to tell the Prime Minister about our journey to the Football For Hope Festival.
"It is fantastic he is interested in what we are doing."
The FIFA-organised contest will be held in Alexandra in Johannesburg, the place where Nelson Mandela fought against Apartheid.
Wendy Broomfield, Dads co-ordinator for the Football For Hope Festival, said; "This is a real honour for us to be invited to Downing Street and to meet the Prime Minister. We know he is a great football fan and will appreciate what we are setting out to do."

“My son has served in IRAC and other places around the world. I would rather believe what he has experienced first hand in regards to what support he has received than the misinformed comments offered by Peter.”
