Gordon Ramsay praises Hull chippy
AN EAST Hull chippy is to star on prime time television after hosting celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay and Hull East MP John Prescott.
The unlikely duo spent about an hour in Latus Fish and Chips in Holderness Road, east Hull, filming for Ramsay's hit show The F-Word.
And according to Dave Broadfield, the owner of the chip shop, chef Ramsay, famed for his sharp tongue and foul language, commended the quality of the fish and chips.
Mr Broadfield said after several weeks of nervous anticipation, the day turned out to be fantastic.
He said: “It was a fantastic experience, once my initial nervousness wore off.
“Gordon really praised our fish and chips and that means a lot to us. He polished off a full portion just about, so he must have enjoyed them.
“He said the fish was good because it was fresh and he said the batter was really good.
“I really enjoyed the day as did my staff – to get praise for your food means a lot from anyone but for someone like Gordon Ramsay to say the fish and chips were good means an awful lot.”
According to Mr Broadfield, the chance meeting came about after Prescott, the outgoing MP for East Hull, agreed only to film the piece for programme screened on Channel 4 on Tuesdays at 9pm, if it was filmed in the chip shop he has used for about 15 years.
Every week on The F-Word, different celebrities man a kitchen and cook for 50 people.
Throughout the show Gordon Ramsay travels across the country and speaks to different people about their eating habits.
No one from Channel 4 was available for comment, but the Mail understands the episode of The F-Word featuring the shop, which received an A grade in Hull City Council's Scores On The Doors scheme, is to be broadcast in about three weeks time.

“Decided after reading rave reviews to eat there last night. Fish was ok but my mother in her 70's cooks better and the chips were only half cooked.”

“spoilt for choice for good fish and chips in Hull compared to the rubbish we get in kent-and we have to pay £5+.
Dundee on Chants Ave has got to be one of the best though.”
