HMV Hull escapes nationwide cull of 66 stores
Hull's HMV has avoided a cull of the entertainment retailer's stores.
Administrators today announced plans to close 66 of the chain's 220 branches over the next two months.
But while Leeds and Scunthorpe will lose stores, the branch in Whitefriargate, Hull city centre, has survived - at least for now.
The closures will affect 930 staff.

About 190 jobs have already gone across HMV's head office and distribution network.
HMV entered administration last month.
Administrators, who have been in talks with restructuring specialist Hilco about taking over the famous chain, will now hope to secure the long-term future of stores such as Hull.
Joint administrator Nick Edwards said: "As part of our ongoing review of HMV's financial position, we have now completed a review of the store portfolio and have identified 66 loss making stores for closure.
"This step has been taken in order to enhance the prospects of securing the business' future as a going concern.
"We continue to receive strong support from staff and are extremely grateful to them for their commitment during an understandably difficult period.
"All other key stakeholders remain very supportive and I continue to be hopeful of securing a future for the restructured business."
