STRIKER Ryan Kendall could make more of an impact if he stays at Hull City next season, according to Bradford midfielder Michael Flynn.

Kendall spent the latter part of last season on-loan at the Bantams, scoring two goals in six appearances.

His latest strike was a well-taken match-winner in a 1-0 victory at Crewe on the final day, helping to maintain a six-game unbeaten run.

Whilst Kendall's time in the starting line-up was limited and four of his outings came as a substitute, Flynn has seen enough of him in training to believe he has a bright future.

He told the Mail: "Ryan is a very nippy striker who has a good brain and makes clever runs.

"He doesn't make wasted runs, he uses his head and gets into good areas. He can play off the shoulder of a defender and has very good movement.

"He could have been forgiven for being a bit frustrated because he did not get too many starts because of our league position. But he stuck at it, got his head down and never complained. He just got on with it.

"It would have been easy for him to come to us thinking he was a Premier League player who should play every game, but he didn't. He just got stuck in."

Having helped Bradford to a 14th-place finish, the 20-year-old is wanted on a permanent basis by former City boss Peter Taylor.

With his contract due to expire on June 30, the future of the Hull-born hitman is uncertain.

But with City about to embark on life back in the Championship, Flynn is confident Kendall could find his feet in the division.

"I don't think he would let anyone down in the Championship if he was needed, but you have to remember that division is a tough league," said the 29-year-old ex-Blackpool and Wigan midfielder.

"I played in it for a few seasons and it can take a while to adjust to the pace if you're not used to it.

"But Ryan is an honest lad who works hard at training and gets on well with people in the dressing room."

    “I hope you're right Phil.

I think a club or two will bung in a bid, I just hope that they're too low to be seriously considered, as his wages are not high and unless we get a big cash offer, they'll be easy to turn down.”

“Our youngsters must be made to understand that they will be better staying here. If they go now it will only be to play for a lower Premier club. If they were to attract a bigger club they would only be loaned out to a CCC club. Stay with this club and play.”

“Andy- couldn't agree with you more. Cairney would still be in the reserves- looking a decent prospect but thats it. He now has PL experience (all be it 11games). But in those 11 games he has not looked out of place and has (more often than not) outshone some of the other players with much more experience.”

“If Cairney had played for one of the top teams who are reported to be looking at him the chance is he would not have played a first team game this season and would still be a promising youngster in the reserves. He will be much better off playing for us in the Championship than in a reserve side. The time for both the club and him to think about a possible move is this time next year and from the clubs point of view if he progresses then so will his value. The same is true of our other promising youngsters.”

“Lambretta- I had a quick chat with Cairney at the player awards dinner- he has been told (obviously he was a bit drunk) that he will be kept as much as possible.
Personally I reckon we will keep him- probably with a promise that if we don't go up and we do get some serious offers for him at the end of next season then he can go.”
