CHAIRMAN Adam Pearson expects Phil Brown's replacement to be in place by Thursday morning.

Brown has been placed on "gardening leave", with assistant boss Brian Horton and Steve Parkin put in charge of preparing the team for Saturday's clash at Portsmouth.

But Pearson believes one of "about five people" on a shortlist will be in the job for the visit to Fratton Park.

In fact, he hopes to make the decision by tomorrow night.

However, the new manager will not be Alan Curbishley.

Pearson said: "I wouldn't think that is someone we will be pursuing.

"He is a fantastic manager, but it's someone we need to be able to get in straight away and he is not on that list."

Asked whether it would be former Bolton manager Gary Megson, Pearson said: "I'm not going to go through them all."

The City chairman added the new man will be someone who has presence and can create an impact, who knows about survival and about the Premiership.

Pearson also suggested it could be someone appointed until the end of the season.

Asked if Horton could be one of the candidates Pearson said: "Steve and Brian are definitely in there.

"They are preparing the team in their usual professional way.

"I can't say any more than that on their positions at this stage."

“well tbh id rather not have any of the shortlist.

    1. there interests wont be in hull city football club.

    2. they will only care about whatever bundle of cash pearson throws there way.

    3. there comming to a survival scrap with no knowledge of the team the club or the players we have.

    4. new managers take time to influence players.

OUR STATE OF AFFAIRS WILL NOT BE FIXED WITH A NEW MANAGER IN 9 GAMES... ITS STILL THE SAME PLAYERS WITH THE SAME WORKRATE.

whoever comes in cant click there fingers and make our players work or play any harder than they did last performance at arsenal.

its quite simple we need a miracle.”

“The boss- East riding - you are obviously a pi$$ taker. Peter Sann is an idiot. Nick Barmby hasno management experience and Peter Reid would cost a fortune to get out of his assistant managers job at Stoke.
As for Pearson being a "finance man" and questioning his ability as a chairman- I am sure you would rather have the Duffer back!! Perhaps one of the Needlers or maybe even the Sheffield crooks. Don't be soft. He was commercial director at L**ds and pulled us out of the 5h1te.... I feel Duffen would not have sacked PB even if he took us down- where I feel we would be already with the Duffer still at the helm.
Brown was a sacking waiting to happen. If it hadn't happened now then it would have been at he end of the season. Whilst I am not 100% about the timing- I feel it should have been much earlier or at the end of the season- I am 100% behind Pearson. He has been honest with the fans. Something his predecessor certainly was not!”

“What idiot gets rid of his manager without another in place. Pearson is a finance man not a football man and I question his ability as the Chairman. For the last nine games, Peter Reid or even Peter Swan or Nick Barmby - the latter two know their way roun the team.”
