HULL CITY: First offer too low, but Brown conclusion draws near
HULL City remain confident of agreeing a severance package with estranged manager Phil Brown, despite opening talks failing to bring an amicable resolution.
Brown, who has been on gardening leave since mid-March, met with head of football operations Adam Pearson on Wednesday to thrash out a deal for the remaining 13 months of his annual £1.4m deal.

Talks: Phil Brown
The Tigers opened up talks by offering a lump cash sum, but it is understood the figure fell well short of what Brown and his representatives had hoped for.
Brown looks certain to knock back the deal but with talks set to continue between the two parties, it is hoped a swift agreement will be reached to formally end a historic three-and-a-half year relationship.
After almost two months on gardening leave, Brown is keen to return to a management role ahead of next season.
Several clubs are believed to have sounded out the 50-year-old but he cannot discuss any potential offer whilst on City's pay roll.
Brown's desire to return to work should aid City's bargaining position and with further talks expected in the next seven days, a severance deal should arrive before June.
A LEGAL team acting on behalf of the PFA continue to work on the proposals which would see players defer wages but still receive full payment in the long-term.

“its amazing that duffen left and actually had to pay city compensation for what had happened at city yet brown gets to screw the club one more time before moving on, or did mr brown have nothing to do with these "deals" in which case what were city paying him for, just to pick the team, mr brown should do the club a favour and just walk away, clubs showing interest, if thats the case he could quit, but he wont because he will never get a job like this again and will never earn this sort of money again. i will be glad when the whole episode is done with and we can move on”

“Has anyone ever seen Sir Fergy, Wenger or Rafa berate their players on the pitch? I cant recall it myself. I mean 4-0 at have time against a Man C first 11 worth more than the Tiger's FULL ROSTER of players. You cant really say much about it but surely you get the team off the pitch and say your peace BEHIND the dressing room door. Go away Brown and take your fake tan and bad kareoke voice with you. You dont deserve what your asking for in a severance package. You should look at what you're cost US!!!”

“what brown has done for city??but dont forget what city have done for brown. we probably made an average manager into a millionaire, who else would have done that for you phil? move on? dont see a queue of clubs rushing for him, even burnley would rather have laws pmsl.if he wants all his money let him earn it, theres plenty of grass around the stadium to cut and bins to empty. a bit of honest graft may teach him a bit of humility. no to dowie, not got a great record anywere else, lets have a manager that will grow with the team and develop the kids with a few choise "old" pros. up the tigers”

“The recruitment of Dowie was a desperate reaction to the mis-management of Brown since August. The fact that Dowie failed to get the points needed, whereas Brown MIGHT have done (which I have clearly stated in earlier posts), does not clear Browns slate or absolve him of his managerial clangers. AP was culpable in not sacking him back in October ¿ December 09, after that we were dicing with death.
I consider mine and other posts to be less of a reflection of whether or not we liked Phil Brown and more a view on his managerial skills and record with Hull City; all of which has been garnered and commented on over the last two years and not just a couple of months!”

“Had a long argued comment on when it got errored - HDM moron back from his hols?
These posts just reflect whether you like PB or not.
I'll simply say that he may not have been a 5 star PL manager, but I believe he would have kept us up & it was Pearson (& Dowie) that got us relegated, Alan!!”

“Do not want Taylor back. He was OK in the lower leagues but has constantly failed in the higher leagues. His defensive play was awful to watch, score 1 goal then play 10 behind the ball. We don't want to go back to that. When he left for what he regarded was a better club (Crystal Palace) the majority of the fans where glad to see the back of him.”
