RICHARD Agar says he cannot wait to welcome Mark O'Meley and Craig Fitzgibbon to training for the first time.

The Australian Test stars are expected to join their new team-mates on Friday as Hull FC's training squad moves a step closer to completion.

Only Sean Long and Tom Briscoe, who will join up soon, will be missing from Hull's new-look squad as the Black and Whites training steps up a gear.

"I think everyone is looking forward to the two guys coming in this week, their presence will be warmly welcomed," Agar told the Mail.

"I think they may come in and see everyone on Wednesday, but it will most likely be Friday before we have them training with us."

With Hull FC's players currently given Thursdays and Sundays off during their tough pre-season preparations, Hull's two new superstars will be given time to acclimatise.

Currently in week two of their 12-week training schedule, Agar has spoken of his delight at the rapid progress his new squad have been making.

"We've really got off on the right foot, which is pleasing," added Agar.

"The boys are working really hard and the quality of the sessions has been good, particularly given the stage we are at with our training.

"Danny Tickle has come in and joined us this week and it won't be long before we have Sean Long and Tom Briscoe too. So with the Aussies arriving this week the level of training will be raised further.

"I think the whole squad are looking forward to the new guys arriving and as you would expect, the mood is very good at the minute."

Hull's pre-season training has changed this year, with an emphasis on skill sessions as well as concentrating on the fitness of players.

The gruelling runs across the Brantingham hills and Beverley Westwood are still testing the players to the limits, but more sessions are taking place out on the training field.

While delighted at the progress of his team, Agar has also been handed further good news with injured duo Kirk Yeaman and Shaun Berrigan edging closer to full fitness.

"Yeamo and Berro have really been putting in the long hours and it will be great to have them back with the boys," said Agar.

"It can be a lonely path when you are out injured but the pair of them are in good spirits and can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

"They'll be back doing modified training with us from December 1. They have that last little bit of rehab left and knowing that has lifted them further."
