HULL FC coach Richard Agar may turn to rising star Reece Lyne to cover his current injury problems.

Lyne was expected to be named in the Hull 19-man squad today ahead of Saturday's trip to Harlequins.

And the 17-year-old could well be handed his second appearance for Hull with Agar searching for a player to fill a void on the wing.

The loss for the season of first-choice winger Mark Calderwood and the impressive Richard Whiting has left Agar depleted of numbers out wide.

Craig Hall won a reprieve against Wigan last week when handed the winger role, but the Mail understands he will not feature at Harlequins.

It opens the door for Lyne to make his first appearance since signing a new three-year contract with the Black and Whites.

"Reece played some great football earlier in the year and had a setback with his ankle injury," Agar told the Mail.

"He's got back to playing with a little bit of form in the under-20s, so with the blokes we have out he'll be called up this week.

"Reece had a mixed bag on his debut, but maybe he was left in a couple of positions that he shouldn't have been left in.

"He did enough good things though and he's worked hard on his game. There is one thing we know he will do if he plays and that is carry the ball for us."

Fellow teenager Danny Nicklas could also keep his place in the team following his solid 20-minute cameo against Wigan.

“He will make mistajes for sure but how else are you going to learn.

Good luck to the lad, got real potential and who knows could make the spot his own like Tom Briscoe did.”
