HULL FC: Long and Horne returns give us a timely boost, says Fitzgibbon
SEAN Long and Richard Horne's return to training has given Hull FC a timely new edge, according to Craig Fitzgibbon.
Long and Horne are both back in action ahead of Hull's bid to topple Leeds and seal a fourth-place finish.
Without a game this weekend, the duo will have two weeks to work together on the training ground before they have to click into gear.
And Fitzgibbon says that will be a massive advantage, particularly as the Rhinos are competing against Warrington in the Challenge Cup final.
"Having Sean and Richard coming back this week has provided us with a chance to work on our cohesion and a few plays on the training field," the 33-year-old told the Mail. "We must use the opportunity to our advantage.
"It's business as usual this week for us and while we don't have a game to work towards, everyone will be working hard at training."
Hull's clash with Leeds has been moved to Saturday, September 4 (4.30pm) because it will be televised live
Despite losing to Warrington last time out, the manner of Hull's performance has given Fitzgibbon reason for optimism.
"We know how to respond to a defeat, which we have done all season when losses have come around," said the ex-Australian Test star.
"You would hope and expect to see a reaction and we will go into the game knowing we are capable of winning. But we'll still take nothing for granted.
"Having a packed house at the KC Stadium and so much on the line means it will be a fantastic game to be involved in. Opportunities like this don't come around too often."

“Poor "squaddie's" been through too many initiation ceremonies involving toothbrushes and vitamin S. It's affected him.
"grammer". No wonder the country is going to the dogs when dimwits like you are allowed to touch a keyboard.”
