HULL FC assistant coach Andy Last says his side go into the Valvoline Cup play-offs confident they can beat anyone if they find their best form.

Hull's under-20s team begin their play-off campaign tonight at Huddersfield YMCA (kick-off 7.30pm) as Last's fifth-place side take on their fourth-place opponents.

After being early season pace-setters the Black and Whites have struggled for results in recent weeks as they slid down the table.

However, Last insists confidence remains high in the Hull camp.

"We need to make sure we play to the best we can and if we play to our potential we are a match for any side because we have proved that this year," Last told the Mail.

"We have beaten every single team in the competition and while we haven't gone into the play-offs in the best of form I know on their day this side is capable of beating anyone."

Hull recorded an early season victory at home to the Giants before losing narrowly on the road.

Only one point separated the teams in the league table and the Black and Whites are confident of progressing after being boosted by the presence of two first-team players.

"We are fortunate at the minute the first team is healthy so Jack Briscoe and Mike Burnett will be able to play for us from the senior squad," added Last.

"We have a strong side and hopefully it is strong enough to get us a win and into the second round of the play-offs.

"We beat them at home and narrowly lost away. When we played them away it was a scratchy location, we picked up a couple of knocks too."
