HULL KR second row Ben Galea doesn't want history to repeat itself tonight when Rovers close their regular season at Crusaders.

A year ago a last-game defeat at Wakefield, coupled with Huddersfield's win over Wigan, saw the Giants leapfrog the Robins into third place.

This season Crusaders must win, and hope Castleford lose, to grab the eighth and last play-off place.

Galea, who believes this could be Rovers' toughest game of the season, wants Rovers to finish the campaign in style at Wrexham.

"I think this could be the toughest game of the season for us," said Galea.

"This is the perfect match for us ahead of the play-offs.

"It's a semi-final for them and it's do-or-die after this for us. Crusaders will have that intensity and that is what we need ahead of the play-offs.

"Last year we stumbled at the last hurdle at Wakefield before the play-offs.

"That wasn't ideal preparation for the play-offs.

"We want to rectify that and build some momentum this time."

Maybe Rovers had one eye on the play-offs when Wakefield beat them 24-10.

Galea was almost left with one eye after an accidental clash with team-mate Ben Cockayne in the 44-18 win at Salford.

There were fears Galea might need surgery to repair the fracture but, thankfully, it healed quicker than doctors first thought.

He missed Rovers' 38-18 defeat to Wigan, but returns tonight grateful his vision is back to normal.

"The eye is feeling great although I still have a fracture in my eye socket," Galea said.

"It's healing every day and it's not something I have to worry about for the game. I have spoken to all the specialists and doctors and they assure me everything is going to be fine.

"I got a finger in the eye from Ben as he swung his arm underneath and missed the ball carrier and hit me.

"His finger has gone straight into my eye, scratched my eyeball and fractured the socket.

"I could have been blinded and a number of other things could have happened. It was daunting to think about what might have happened if I needed an operation.

"I was lucky that the fracture was on the side and not underneath as the eye would have sunk and I would have required the operation. Thankfully, it wasn't."
