HULL KR: Mason will inspire, not trouble us, says Morgan
JUSTIN Morgan believes there will be no dramas when he coaches Willie Mason at Hull KR next season – even if he is known as one of the NRL's wild men.
Having first revealed Rovers' interest in signing the former Australian Test star in the Mail back in July, he has now officially penned a two-year deal, with the option of a third season.

Hull KR's new signing Willie Mason.
Known for making as many headlines off the pitch as he has on it, Morgan is confident the current Rovers squad will keep the 30-year-old on the straight and narrow.
As a friend of Mason's since his own playing career Down Under, Morgan believes their long-standing relationship will have a bearing on how Mason will behave next year.
"I've known Willie for a long time, right back to when he started out at Canterbury," Morgan said.
"I know that a lot of flack has fallen at his doorstep throughout his career but a lot of that gets taken out of proportion.
"Because he is a larger than life character that sort of thing happens, but when you talk to him, as I have done and as the players have done, you know that he has a passion to do well, to work hard and to train hard.
"This is a guy who has played a number of years in the NRL, played State of Origin and played for Australia. You don't do that if you're not a serious player."
Since Morgan has arrived in England as Rovers coach, he has worked hard to turn Rovers into Grand Final hopefuls.
Signing players of the quality of Mick Vella, Clint Newton, Ben Galea and Joel Clinton has helped nurture younger players like Liam Watts and Kris Welham.
And Morgan is confident Mason will lead by example to the club's up-and-coming stars of the future.
"What you want to do, apart from sign a player, is create a culture, a winning culture," said Morgan.
"Willie has won trophies, Newton and Galea have, our captain Mick Vella has been in finals, and you want that to rub off on your players, especially the younger ones.
"The likes of Liam Watts, Scott Taylor and Frankie Mariano will all be really excited about working with someone like Willie and seeing how he operates.
"And while you want to win something with these type of players while they are here, the least you hope is that they create a culture and a legacy that will exist after they have moved on.
"This signing is a really significant achievement for our club."

“stephen , no i definatly not black and white you could not be more further than the truth. The board will not under write the losses ,why do you think we are in so much debt? All i will say is you were told what this mason thing is all about so when the S@@t hits the fan i will be proved right ,the club as put all its eggs in one basket and its one massive gamble which they have been warned about but as i said in first post needs be, the club will be anouncing massive losses again there is not hiding from that fact we have not had the crowds to do anything else. the club needs to be honest with fans or the club will go into free fall .wait and see”

“Justin was screaming for Willie in the boardroom, I don't think Mr Hudgell understood and signed Mr Mason instead LOL. I'm 110% behind this signing, it'll bankrupt KR. Bye to them forever”

“Willy Mason is good for 20 minutes a game and he will never give 100% effort for that 20 minutes. Despite his size, smaller blokes with more passion for the game do far more work than he will. Defensively he is a weakness in the team that will need covering. Other teams will be looking forward to playing against him. The most overrated player in the NRL without fail.”
