HULL KR: Sandercock feels penalties cost his Robins dear
HULL KR coach Craig Sandercock will speak with head of referees Stuart Cummings to discuss the penalties his side conceded in their 34-16 defeat at Leeds.
Rovers were on the wrong side of a 12-5 penalty count which the Aussie felt cost him a chance to start his coaching career with a win. But despite losing at the champions, he was still proud of his side's efforts.

Hull KR coach Craig Sandercock
"I was a bit frustrated with the penalty count," he said. "All we seemed to do was defend for four tackles and give away a penalty and then defend our own line.
"I'm proud of my boys because, considering the penalty count, and we defended our own line for long periods, we gave a very good account of ourselves.
"I have my concerns so I'll have a chat with Stuart during the week."
Sandercock praised Leeds as they again played right to the final whistle and were patient in waiting until the final quarter to turn the screw on the Robins.
"I thought the first 65 minutes were outstanding," Sandercock said.
"Leeds are a class side and they put on some points in the final 15 minutes, which was disappointing for us.
"We were in that contest for the first 65 minutes and if a couple of things had've gone our way, I might be a bit happier.
"But rugby league is played over 80 minutes and we need to learn to play for that if we want to compete with the best in the competition.
"If you lack concentration and miss a tackle, they will hurt you and that is why they are champions. We need to get that mentality and we have to learn to deal with adversity."
Rovers weren't helped by four missed goals by the usually reliable Michael Dobson, but Sandercock didn't blame his play-maker.
"All four tries were scored in the corners," he said. "The scoreline doesn't indicate the effort that we put in. The try count was six to four in the end."

“it's that time of year when refs jump on everything blow for this and that , then in about 6 weeks time these penalty offences will suddenly not be penalties and be allowed to carry on . it seems to happen every season.
gr8 effort from kr fri night, gsve them loiners a run for their money.
also it's good to see the reduction in inter changes , for me a further reduction would again benefit the game. maybe it should be , if you go on then come off you can't be used again . or a limit on how many times 1 player can be used.
any way well done kr,i'm sure you'll get the 3 points at wakey.”

“I see that after Rovers defeat a big penalty count against you does make a difference ,exept of course if its the other way round like when Fc were penalised out the game ,even Gwillum lloyd changed is tune in the derby match is was nothing to do with penalties it was rovers better play until last night when penalties cost rovers”

“If im honest a bit disapointed about last night thought we would do better than that, seems to me same old problems penalties, basic errors and periods of the game when it just goes away from us ie last 20mins last night, I had hoped Sandercock would have changed some of these but it seems they are all still there.”

“rufus 1005 you lost 34 -16, wasnt close as your fans predicted and most of you expected to come home with 2 points. first competitive game both teams rusty but class plays its part and leeds im afraid didnt even have to get out of 2nd gear to beat you comprehensively you got found out. to me rovers will be no better than last season on this showing”

“I have to say that i agree with sandercock Bentham was so one sided it would have been easyer to just put a leeds shirt on, they got all 50/50 then he never gave us anu head high holding down crossing or offside with a far ref it would have been a good game. Fans i was talking to said he was worse than at wakefield, i would say he should ref kid game but why should they have have Bentham.
On the up side the team looked fit, tough, had some idea of how to defend and attack just need a few weeks playing with all the new faces.
How can leeds be a grade A superleague ground, they have gone from one of the best pitches in the country to one of the worst, no carpark, poor veiw from the seats, we get the open end of the ground, Craven park is no so bad, but if we have to more to make the club a superleague winner then so be it do what needs to be done hudge.”

“Ernieboy, yes I would and on the duller threads too. Believe it or not, I have a few chores to do this weekend. The wife sometimes takes a dim view with regard to me being a Rovers obsessive ... lol ...
Chrispy1991, being outplayed by a better team on the day was the reason for your friendly loss against us. Much the same as our loss last night.”
