Hull KR began their season with a 32-24 defeat to Catalan.
Despite taking an early 2-0 lead in the third minute, Catalan struck back with 26 unanswered points of their own.
Zeb Taia powered over after Thomas Bosc's long pass out to the right. Jason Baitieri left Con Mika and Craig Hall in his wake as he strolled through to score near the posts in the 20th minute. Steve Menzies proved their is life in his old legs yet as he scored a brace before the interval hooter. His first was set up by Brent Webb on the right and the second came after a blistering break from Jamal Fakir on the left. Bosc converted three of the four tries to leave Rovers facing an uphill battle in the second half.
Three minutes into the second half, Catalan extended their lead through Jamal Fakir's try. But tries from Michael Dobson, Josh Hodgson and Omari Caro set up an exciting finale.
