Motorists may face disruption when overnight work to resurface parts of Hedon Road gets under way on Monday.

The Highways Agency is spending £200,000 resurfacing the A1033 between Marfleet and Somerden roundabouts and on improvements to Marfleet roundabout.

The westbound carriageway between the two roundabouts will be closed on the nights of Monday to Friday next week and on the night of Monday February 20. Diversions will be signposted.

The work should be completed by March 23. Most will be done between 6pm and 6am each night for three weeks, followed by some daytime work, including lane closures.

Steven Wright, of the Highways Agency, said: "This routine maintenance will reduce the need for unplanned repairs on this section of the A1033 and provide safer access for future maintenance of Marfleet roundabout.

"Every effort has been made to design a scheme that will minimise inconvenience for road users and residents alike, although inevitably there will be some noise which we will be working to contain after 11pm.

"Some journey times will be extended as a result of the diversions when the westbound carriageway is closed. We would like to thank road users and residents for their patience as this work gets under way."

Diversions

During overnight closures of the westbound carriageway, the Highways Agency says diversions will be as follows:

For vehicles: From Salt End roundabout on A1033 Hedon Road via Staithes Road to Preston, then via B1240, B1239 and B1238 to A165 Holderness Road in Hull and via Maybury Road and Marfleet Avenue to Marfleet Roundabout on A1033.

For HGVs: From A1033 junction with Hariff Lane via Burstwick Road, Daisy Hill Road, White's Close Lane, Newfield Lane, Nuttles Lane and Lelley Lane to its junction with B1239 from where it will join the vehicle diversion route as described above.

“"between Marfleet and Somerden" - oh joy, so all that delay and not including the off-road driving experience on the west bound carriageway just prior to the King George Dock roundabout.”

What's with the 'may'. People will have to go miles round won't they? That diversion is a long way out of your way.

Glad I don't live in Hedon! I suppose people should be glad it's only after 6pm.”
