A hotline has been set up at Humberside Police's headquarters in Priory Road, west Hull, for readers to call.
Anyone with information should call (01482) 578025 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.THE latest instalment of the Mail's Caught On Camera initiative includes a robbery in west Hull where a man was forced to hand over his cash cards by a group of five robbers.
During the robbery, which took place on July 1 on Woodcock Street, the group of men cornered the victim in an alleyway in the early hours.
They demanded he hand over the cash in his wallet and a number of cards before using them to take more money from an ATM.
The robbery forms part of the latest instalment of the successful Caught On Camera initiative, which has helped police catch more than 50 criminals.
Caught On Camera is a partnership between Humberside Police and the Mail that aims to help identify people thought to be responsible for crimes such as theft, burglary, robbery and assault, by publishing CCTV images.
The move to restart the scheme, which previously ran for a number of years, reflects a fresh impetus within the force to tackle these offences as well as improvements in the quality of CCTV footage.
Detective Sergeant John Fuller has been leading the campaign but is relinquishing the role after an internal transfer.
He said: "The response of the public over the last year has staggered me at times.
"There is a good group of detectives dedicated to cracking down on the criminals of Hull who show a disregard for the people of the city – initiatives like Caught On Camera show that the general public will not accept crime.
"As we have always said, even with the best will in the world, the officers and staff and Humberside Police cannot be expected to know the identity of every thief, robber and hooligan in the city.
"Caught On Camera has allowed us to clear up many incidents which would not have been able to had it not been for the input of the members of the public.
"By publishing the case files with the Mail we asked for the public to take on some of the responsibility of fighting crime.
"They have shouldered the responsibility and it has been abundantly clear those who have been contacting us feel a firm sense of duty to help us."
It will now be led by Detective Sergeant Nick Ram.
Officers want to appeal not only to people who read the Mail in print, but also the growing number of users of the Mail's website.
Each image published by the Mail in print or online has a corresponding case number.

“the guy caught robbing a nation is someone called gordon, i think his last name is brown, he is no good at sums,
2 plus 2 does not equal 4 if you take into account the borrowing fee ,
please dont approach this man, he could be dangerous if not armed with a script,
advice would be to hang him from the nearest lamp post for crimes against the state, god have mercy on his soul,”

“if the culprits are good enough to be shown on camera then why not arrest them in situ ?
lets not forget why cctv was invented,
to protect the public .
did jamie bulger die for no reason ?
who is protecting who when all cctv does is to record what happened, welcome to 1984,
it took some time but we got there in the end.”

“John from East Riding - This is obviously the best face shot available of the suspect, the police will have the full footage but whats the point in putting all of the images on here when people are running out of the shop etc? This is to identify people, not to say whether they committed the crime. I guess if they're on here, the police must be confident its' them!”

“@ George's comments about immigrants sponging of your tax money-firstly get your facts straight-even if in the EU unless they have 12 months of continous work they are unable to claim benefits. Most of the immigrants in Hull work through agencies and are constantly 'let go' after working for a while. And as for not living in a multi cultural society-bet you live with your head buried as there are so many different cultures in Hull these days. I think biggotted comments like this are particularly sad when we have just held the freedom festival and shown what a wonderful place Hull could be-if we could get rid of a few ignorant people.”

“Isn't a PCSO just a paid Special Constable? I actually heard a group of young lads boasting that they had told a PCSO that he couldn't arrest them, and that he could go forth and multiply! (Obviously that translated into your Hull speak was an expletive!) I wonder what year he attended David Lister?”

“CCTV is without doubt a wonderful invention, but it has it's limitations, it can't stop and arrest people. Not one of these photographs shows anyone actually commiting an offence. All that these photo's show is the person that the staff THINK commited the offence, how is it that they have full face pictures of the people entering the stores, but none of them leaving carrying anything, £128.00 worth of Champagne must be difficult to hide under a jacket?? as must £32.00 of beer. And don't let us forget that we have fewer police officers on the streets to look for these people, as they now have to be in schools, and a great many of the special constables are resigning after their bounty payments have been removed. Did somone say 'Last one out please turn off the light'.”
