BRIDLINGTON Town will be looking to get over their FA Cup exit at Shildon when Long Eaton United visit Queensgate today (3pm).

Having lost 1-0 in their preliminary round clash on Saturday, the Seasiders are straight back in action today against a side which took four points off them last term.

But with injuries and suspensions already taking their toll, Bridlington will be without Tom Fleming (suspension) and the injured Ash Allanson, Mark Barber, Alex Rhodes and Lee Wright for today's NCEL Premier Division clash.

Wright suffered a broken foot in training ahead of the defeat at Shildon, who fielded a full-strength side to gain revenge for last season's FA Cup defeat at Queensgate with a narrow victory at Dean Street.

The win came courtesy of a 20th-minute strike from Gary Brown, who took advantage of his side's early dominance to fire home.

Shildon's dangerous wide men Sonny Andrews and former Whitby man Sam Garvie caused problems for Phil Harrison and Danny Brunton, meaning man-of-the-match Mark Wilberforce had to be at his best to keep out a few efforts.

But Shildon goalkeeper Keith Finch was also in good form before the match's decisive moment came.

Daniel Moore headed on a corner and Garvie hooked the ball towards the top corner only for Wilberforce to produce a class save to tip over for another corner. This time Wilberforce came out but the ball went over his stretched hand and fell into a crowded goal-mouth for Brown to drill home off a Bridlington defender.

Hogg had a 20-yard shot comfortably saved and following Town's best move Nathan Cook was caught in an offside position.

Shildon went in with a deserved lead at the break as Bridlington struggled to make a real impact, but the visitors started the second period much better and Finch was called on to save well from both Lyon and Hogg.

Shildon's Brown and Bridlington's Wallace were both cautioned for lunging tackles and Town skipper Harrison went into the referee's book for dissent after he was penalised for what appeared to be a legitimate tackle.

Bridlington Town: Wilberforce, Harrison (c), Brunton, McNamara, C. Cook, Lee, Lyon (Chippendale 59), Bennett, Hogg, Wallace, N. Cook (Danby 68). Subs not used: Reffin, Pujdak. Attendance: 151 Man of the match: Mark Wilberforce
