HORNSEA Carnival has been cancelled because Hall Garth Park is waterlogged in some places.

Organisers say they are very sorry the event, which had been due to run from Friday, July 20, to Sunday, July 22, will not go ahead.

But they say public safety had to come first.

The parade through town on Saturday afternoon and the performance by Blackstarr at Hornsea Floral Hall on Saturday night will still take place.

Indeed. A human can drown in inches of water you know. All this talk about gunmen, drink drivers, terrorists... Whats being done about killer puddles, that's what I want to know”

Chaz Henderson, one of the organisers of the carnival, said: "It's amazing that all the prawns caught off the east coast are exported. Ninety per cent of the lobsters caught are even exported out of the country."

"Despite the recent wet weather, Mr Henderson has vowed the carnival will go ahead on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.....Mr Henderson said: "There is no doubt Hornsea Carnival will go ahead."

So what happened between yesterday when above was posted and today?”
