In an official statement released by Hull City they have confirmed manager Phil Brown has left the club.

The statement said: "Hull City AFC confirms that Phil Brown has been relieved of his managerial duties at the club and has been placed on gardening duties with immediate effect.

"Brian Horton and Steve Parkin will take charge of the first-team duties until further notice.

"We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Phil for the major success achieved during a period of four seasons in charge at the club and wish him every success for the future.

"Promotion to the Premier League in 2008 and retention of our status on the last day of the 2009 season are unique events in the history of Hull City AFC and both were achieved under Phil's stewardship during a period which will never be forgotten by all connected with the club.

"However, retention of Premier League status is paramount and the board believes that a change in managerial direction is the correct option at this time.

"The club will keep supporters completely up-to-date in respect of any managerial appointment but, in the meantime, Brian Horton and Steve Parkin will prepare the team for our important game at Portsmouth next Saturday."

    “TED, HULL
    The joys of Wikipedia!

It is better late than too late. We have some easier games on the horizon and there is still time to grab some points and hopefully stay in the premiership. Late but not too late.”

“If the board have any sense, they will look at the likes of Hughes or Curbishley on a short term deal with a big cash incentive if the club stay up. There is nothing at stake for the manager as most people have now consigned City to the Championship next year, and if they can keep CIty up, it's a massive feather in their caps.”

“What bad timing for Hull City it would have been better to let Phil Brown run till the end of the season. City need to concentrate on there game at the moment so why give them uncertinaty and distractions that they don't need. Come on lads lets see you prove all the critics wrong again. Good luck to Phil Brown just remember it was Phil that got us into the premiership and we should be greatfull for that.”

    “Carl, gardening duties...

"Garden leave (or gardening leave) describes the practice whereby an employee who is leaving a job (having resigned or otherwise been terminated) is instructed to stay away from work during their notice period, while still remaining on the payroll. This practice is often used to prevent employees from taking with them up-to-date (and perhaps sensitive) information when they leave their current employer, especially when they are leaving to join a competitor.

Employees continue to receive their normal pay during garden leave and are covered by any contractual duties, such as confidentiality agreements, until their notice period expires."”

“About time too. Duffen was too matey with him and was paralysed by the fact. Hopefully not Megson. How about Hughes, O'Leary or Curbs?”
