EAST HULL: An outline application to build 139 homes on a site currently occupied by the research and development centre of Fenners in Marfleet Lane has been submitted for planning approval.

The scheme also includes a proposed retail unit and the laying out of a replacement bowling green and club house on the adjacent Fenners sport field.

A separate planning application has also been submitted to Hull City Council seeking the go-ahead to extend the Fenners factory in Marfleet Lane to incorporate new laboratory facilities which would be relocated from the Hainsworth Centre building.

“Scooter, the council has had its budgets slashed to the point it can only do essential work. There isn't 200m spare to build council housing sadly. They are £160m down. But what you are suggesting would make sense if we had a better government.”

“There is no need for more private housing, the city needs to replace the thousands of council houses that have gone. Private rents are criminal, 5 star rent for slum dwellings.”
