HESSLE: A new housing development is planned for a site in the shadow of the Humber Bridge.

Agent Sangwin Architects Ltd is seeking permission to build 11 homes on land at Wintersgill Place.

The homes will be two-storey, three-bedroom properties and built in terrace blocks in a cottage style.

The applicant argues the site is already earmarked for residential use.

“'Two-storey, three-bedroom properties...for people who are retired and wish to downsize'? How big would their pre-downsizing homes have been?”

“Last time I looked, the present development had more "For Sale/To Let" signs on display than those that didn't. Where is the sense in building more during these troubled economic times.”

“Oh brilliant, build some more houses in a flood area!”
