Hull City: Loan target David Meyler staying at Sunderland
Hull City target David Meyler looks set to stay at Sunderland.
Steve Bruce had hoped to bring in the 23-year-old Irish international to boost his midfield options.
Black Cats boss Martin O'Neill has admitted he was close to allowing an emergency 28-day loan last week.
But after seeing Meyler make his debut for Ireland in midweek, O'Neill now wants to keep him around.

He told the Sunderland Echo: "We have important games coming up, a League Cup match coming up and he has had a game or two now which, in terms of fitness, has helped enormously."
However, it appears the door may still be open to a possible loan deal later in the season.
O'Neill added: "He [Meyler] wouldn’t be averse to doing anything just to get games and if it’s games he needs in a while, we will see."
