“It is an easy way for Lee to get xmas at home with his family. I would make him attend every match for the same ammount of time his team mates have to during his suspension.”

“Town striker Alan Lee has today been charged with violent conduct by the Football Association following an incident after the final whistle at Saturday's npower Championship game at Hull City.

That post-match incident led to Hull City defender Alex Bruce being sent-off by referee Howard Webb, but none of the officials – including the assessor – saw the full episode.

Following a review of the video evidence, a retrospective charge has been made against the Irishman.

The charge has been immediately accepted by the Club and Alan Lee, who will now serve an automatic three match suspension - ruling him out of the npower Championship fixtures at former club Crystal Palace (22 December) and at home to Blackpool (26 December) and Sheffield Wednesday (29 December).

Huddersfield Town can also confirm that Alan will also be subject to its internal disciplinary procedures.

    Chief Executive Nigel Clibbens commented:

"Simon Grayson didn't see the incident on Saturday, but he said in his post-match press conference that if Alan had done something wrong he would be punished and this has subsequently happened.

"To lose Alan at this time, with three big fixtures coming up, is disappointing and avoidable. The incident at the end of the game was wholly unnecessary, as the game was over."

    Alan added:

"I raised my arm to protect myself and get past Alex as we came towards each other and he moved across me in an attempt to block my run. There was no intent on my part, but I caught Alex and then he then reacted as a result.

"I am a whole-hearted, genuine player and I give my all every second I'm on the pitch. There has been some really harsh, personal criticism in the aftermath of the game, but I fully understand that I have to accept the FA's perception of events.

"I would like to apologise to my teammates that I won't be available for the next three games and I will look to put things right in the future."”

“Breaking news...Alan Lee charged and banned for three matches by the FA over his assault of Alan Lee at the weekend. Love it when the Hull Daily Fail has its finger on the pulse and brings us proper news.”

“"I want to get the whole city and region behind us"

This may sound obvious but in in harsh economic climate such as we, mostly all, find ourselves in at the moment, the only way to increase attendance is to decrease prices.

Exciting football with real promotion prospects will, unfortunately, only take the gates so far. The reality of the situation is that, as much as many more people would like to support the club by attending games, it is more important to pay your mortgage/rent/utilities/food bill, we have to prioritise and make choices.

    Over to you Mr. Thompson.”

    “Biggr pay packet now, Nick?

Hope so, you can go and buy a decent suit!

Only joking, for those without a sense of humour.

Good luck in your new venture.”
