HULL City have announced the double signing of David Meyler and Robbie Brady.

The pair have already spent time on loan with City this season from Sunderland and Manchester United, but the duo have now joined the promotion-chasing Tigers on three-and-a-half-year deals.

Although the fees are officially undisclosed, midfielder Meyler is believed to have cost in the region of £1.5m from the Black Cats, while wing-back Brady has left Old Trafford for around £2m.

It represents City's greatest expenditure since Stephen Hunt and Kamel Ghilas were announced for a combined £5.3m in August 2009 ahead of the club's second season in the Premier League.

“The tigers are talking to Paul Robinson at the moment (the HDM will not get this story unless it is on sky!). Only problem seems to be his wages, hope there is a compromise though, as it would be nice to see him back in his local area!”

“Great news but as someone said they are already here and do not make the squad better.
If you want some real quality forget Germany and FC and do a Swansea and look to Spain to sign some gifted players. The situation there is ripe to steal some very impressive players ala Leo Baptistao, Fede Vico and others.

Ps Nick you weren't suppose to score. doh.”

“Thank you dr allam and family as previous stated. I am not a gambler and never have been however for once in my life I put £5 on city to go up at 10 to 1 before the season started. It looks a good bet however its not the money but the bragging rights wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwhttp://tinyurl.com/70p9
    from an armchair silver surfer
If the do achieve promotion I will ask DR ALLAM if I can buy a ticket for his private box to watch one match before I meet my maker.
Iain't got many years left so you never know
Come on City. The only ever away match I saw was City playing Chelsea away and we got a draw, another 10 mins and we would have won because we had got on top,at home we got beat with osgood playing.Well I can dream

“Another two huge signings of intention by the club and two more examples of some fantastic financial backing from the Allam family....AS PROMISED. Is this the most cash paid out by a professional sports club in this area in one day ever?
This news might even get priority over the latest thumb injury to a rugby league player in pre season training, or Scunthorpe united interest in a free transfer player, or non league Grimsby town signing a player from another non league player for nothing on Radio Humberside Sports Bulletins in the morning.
    Im not holding my breath.”

“with Fryatt back next year it prob makes sense to get in proven championship scorer on loan .£30k per week off their parent clubs wage bill without us paying millions in a fee.”

“I agree with every comment on here brilliant for the club, they have secured 2 real assets and taken away the uncertainty and so early in the window. However, their signing doesn't actually strengthen the squad. So I hope SB has a permanent first team goalkeeper and a goal scorer on his shopping list.

PS not sure it should be Frazer Campbell”

“Two great signings, absolutely great. Loan signings have been working well for City for the last couple of years now and the majority have turned into permanent moves - speaks volumes for the club and what they are doing well at the moment.

One thing I was surprised to read is that young Brady was on 20,000 Euros per week at United, around 16k sterling a week. If true, does anyone think we'll be matching that??

Comes with the territory I suppose, better players, bigger salaries. Just wonder whether other young guys will want new deals in light of this. Players like Chester and Aluko who will be on half that amount or less?

Anyway, money aside, great deals! UTT!!”

“A real management team who get on with it instead of waiting for the last couple of days in the transfer market. Such a refreshing change. Come on Tigers onward and upwards 3 nil on Saturday will do nicely”
