The 38-year-old has been suspended since last Monday but following a second meeting with club owners Assem and Ehab Allam this afternoon, his reign as Tigers boss has dramatically been cut short.

The full statement from vice chairman Ehab Allam released today read: “Following recent speculation in the media Hull City can now confirm that following a brief period of suspension Nick Barmby has today been dismissed from his role as First Team Manager of the Club with immediate effect.
“The reason for the dismissal relates to certain comments made by Nick in recent interviews.

“The comments concerned were wholly misleading and implied that the Board had not made funds available to Nick to strengthen the First Team squad during the January transfer window.
“Such is not only completely untrue, the comments made by Nick contradicted the Board’s publicly stated position that funds would be made available to Nick during the January transfer window.
“As stated in previous interviews, the Board accepted every transfer request from Nick and in fact actively encouraged him to strengthen the squad should he feel it was necessary.
“The Board consider the comments made by Nick unjustifiably cast public doubt on the honesty and integrity of the Board and its members.
“The relationship between the Team Manager and the Board is of prime importance to the success of any Football Club.
“In making the comments Nick made, he completely undermined the trust and confidence that needs to exist between the Team Manager and the Board.
“The Club sincerely hopes that its fans will recognise that the decision to dismiss Nick was not taken lightly.
“The decision was taken following meetings with Nick where he had every opportunity to state his case and make representations.
“The Club feels that it has treated Nick entirely fairly and in the same way that it would have treated any other employee in the same situation.
“Having been prepared to give Nick his first opportunity in football management, and for it to end like this, has been a particular disappointment to the Board.
“Notwithstanding the circumstances of this ‘parting of the ways’ the Board wish Nick every success in his future career and thank him for the service he has provided to the Club since his return to his home town in 2004.
“The Club can confirm that the search for a new manager will begin immediately.”

“I clearly recall Adam Pearson saying that the funds the Allam's had invested stood virtually no chance of being repaid and I recall Allam saying it was a gift to the city.
The investment was mainly loans, £16m+ of which has already been repaid – no sign of reinvestment. The claims of both Pearson and Allam look somewhat dubious.
They do say episodes like this one occur when a certain type of folk fall out with each other. The problem is, it is this type of person who buy football clubs in this day and age.
Always been sceptical, but more so now. The only victim in this one is Barmby; I just hope that medium to long term it is not the club!”

“its agood job the dont sack a manager a week merlin and his boring bloggers wouldnt have the time to go to bed. "ignored/forgotten facts. np came here on the back of a multi millionaire named peter wilkinson(he became disilluisoned and pulled out)probably after reading merlins blogs. np made enough dosh selling hull city to buy hull fc and millions more .the original risk factor would be nearly zero. however fans need a hero and he fitted the bill. nb came here on the back of a glittering lucrative career. methinks the hasty step into mangement was a step to far at this moment of time. the two people who know event gone and to come are the allams. described in the hdm as successful business men that they are but it was not always the case. next manager who cares as long as he leads us onwards and upwards.”

“gift - noun - something given voluntarily without payment in return, as to show favor toward someone, honor an occasion, or make a gesture of assistance; present.
jeez TonyM how can a loan be a gift stop the AP bashing for a minute and see how the Allams are ruining our club !

“No need to panic about our transfer budget.
Remember NB bleeds black and amber!
He would never sue the club he loves and is a legend of knowing it would weaken our budget”

“The Allams just go to show they have no idea, they do not even know the laws regarding the dismissal of staff, they were correct in having a meeting then suspending NB, then at a disciplinary hearing they have dismissed him, they should have given him 7 days to appeal in writing , which is what he says he will do, after the 7 days an appeal would be held and a final decision made, by stating that the club are already looking for a new manager they have decided what the outcome of the meeting will be, they have left themselves open to an industrial tribunal, I hope NB takes them to the cleaners and sues them for millions, These people are seriously lacking, and are not fit to run this club and should sell it to someone who can do a proper job.”

“Veneztigres, I think you are missing the point. The gift was the loan. It would be interesting to go back over the Allams quotes at the time to see if they actually said that they were giving £51m and didn't want it back. I don't think they ever said that. In fact, I think the person who did do most of the talking at the time was AP, and you know how he was with words. I think you would have to be naive in the extreme to think that someone with a supposed wealth at the time of about £150m, if memory serves me right, would give a third of their wealth away. The use of the word 'gift' was probably what threw everyone, but there are many different forms of gift. Giving people some of your time or helping them out of a sticky situation is a gift of sorts. No businessman ever does that. They very rarely use any of their own money. The fact is that they did still take a risk loaning this money even. I don't doubt that they insured themselves against its loss, but in the economic climate that followed them gifting the loan to City, they could have lost a substantial amount of it. We should actually be a bit grateful that they did not hand it over to pay off the debts, because that at least gives them the opportunity to either put money into the club full stop, or underwrite money for buying players. What I also think should be pointed out is that it looks as though this money will be paid back to the Allams via parachute payments, and this is probably what PD had in mind when he put his contingency plan against relegation in place. Had Bartlett not panicked it is very likely, with his links to the people who funded him, that things would have worked out alright in the long run. Basically, AP led Hull City fans into thinking that the club was in a worse position than it was for his own personal gain. He should not be forgiven for that. The Allams stepping in, saved us from him.”

“It has to be a high profile manager to replace our Nick, someone like Curbishley or Eriksonn springs to mind but hey, you never know, the Allams might just suprise us and buy Holloway out of his contract at Blackpool. Holloway is by far the best English manager in football at the moment and I would love to see him have some money to spend on big players. I'm sure he'd give the top 6 of the Premiership a good run for their money, with the type of players he requires and if he gets Blackpool promoted, then I'm sure they will stay in the Premiership in years to come. Getting Blackpool promoted straight after coming down is a magnificent achievement in its own merit. As for 'Coco' PB the Clown! NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe some on here want him back after he bled the club dry and tried to take the club down with him. This greedy egotistic individual held out for his £1 million pay off knowing the club was on the brink of liquidation. If he truley had Hull City at heart, he would walked without jepodising the existence of the club. When I hear him talk of 'Unfinished Buisness' I'm hearing, 'I'm gonna destroy the club big time, next time'. Look what he did at Preston, after he promised them Premiership football with in two years, he got them relegated! He then took them on a disastrous run of results which saw them getting beaten by the likes of Rochdale, because he played his fantastic 4-5-1 system week in week out. He also stayed with the same tactical plan of slating players and changing team selections week in week out. PB is not a football manager, yet he firmly believes he is the saviour of English Football! Heaven help us!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
