Steve Bruce will turn back to Hull City's big guns for the televised visit of Sheffield Wednesday tonight, with 10 changes likely from the side that drew 1-1 with Leyton Orient last weekend.

Sone Aluko, Ahmed Elmohamady, Robert Koren and Abdoulaye Faye all missed the FA Cup third round tie seven days ago with minor injuries, but all have trained this week to declare their fitness with time to spare.

Sone Aluko is due to return for Hull City.

Jack Hobbs, James Chester, Stephen Quinn and Corry Evans all return after being rested against Orient, while the squad is bolstered further by the double signing of David Meyler and Robbie Brady this week.

Other than long-term injury absentees Matty Fryatt and Joe Dudgeon, Bruce will have a fully fit squad available as he looks for a second league double of the season with a second victory over Sheffield Wednesday.

The temptation will be to revert to the exact starting XI that slaughtered Leeds 14 days ago.

A 3-5-2 shape, with Koren in behind Aluko in City’s attack, delivered a memorable performance when last together in full unison.

Next Tuesday’s trip to Leyton Orient will again see wholesale changes before a trip to Peterborough in seven days.

Jeremy Helan returns from a one-match ban this evening to reclaim his place on Sheffield Wednesday’s left flank.

The Frenchman was handed his suspension after receiving two yellow cards in the derby with Huddersfield even though he controversially failed to be shown red.

Subsequent action from the Football Association handed Helan a one-game ban, one he served in last week’s FA Cup tie with MK Dons.

Although Wednesday are boosted by his return, Dave Jones will be without Hull-born midfielder David Prutton as he begins a two-match ban for amassing 10 yellow cards this term.

Jones will recall veterans Chris Kirkland and Anthony Gardner after both were rested for last weekend’s 0-0 draw. The pair are seen to be influential figures in Wednesday’s miserly defence and will be called upon to try and snuff out City’s attacking dangers.

A key decision will also need to be made in the Owls’ attack.

Chris Maguire, who enjoyed his first start in three months last weekend, may again find himself back on the bench with Helan available again.

Michail Antonio had switched to the left flank but should come back into the attack alongside on loan Stoke striker Mamady Sidibe.
