Tom Lineham and Joe Arundel scored hat-tricks as Hull FC made an emphatic return to winning ways with a nine-try demolition of Castleford Tigers at the KC Stadium.

Hull won 52-0 in a seasonal-best performance which also marked their first clean sheet in Super League since beating Huddersfield 20-0 back in 2004.

Hull were 12 points to the good inside the opening six minutes after Richard Horne and Joe Arundel both capitalised on mistakes by Castleford in spilling the ball inside their own 20 metres.

Further handling errors by the Tigers continued to blight their play and in ruthless mood Hull took full advantage scoring twice more through Tom Lineham before the break to head in at half-time 22-0 up.

Lineham gratefully accepted the dropped pass that fell at his feet, racing 40 metres with no danger of anyone denying him his try by the posts. Within the space of two minutes he was back over again, touching down as Castleford again failed to deal with Daniel Holdsworth's difficult high kick.

Arundel's second try immediately after the re-start put the game beyond any doubt and opened the flood gates for the hosts, with the centre and his wing partner Lineham both going on to secure their hat-tricks.

Danny Houghton got Hull's eighth try of the night before Josh Bowden ended the procession with his first of the season as Hull cruised to victory.

    “A reminder for the Darksiders.

I trust you Gateshull (est.1998) fans will be watching the Gateshead (not est.1998) tomorrow at CP. They are playing their first competitive match of the season. The club you robbed 15 years ago would be happy if you dare to turn up .

Give it a go, be at one with your spiritual roots.

"A decent result tonight, but again, not getting carried away unlike this year's Grand Final & Challenge Cup winners rovers after last week................

It was a bottom of the table clash.
You have not beaten any top 4 team from last season yet.”

“Rugby league is an easy game when played properly well done on a great team performance. Seeing Lineham completely own Chase in the brawl was worth the admission money alone. Hope Heremaia is ok Gentle said he might have broken ribs didn't look or sound good.”
